Volunteer Work

One of Kristin's favorite things at Ohio University is getting to be apart of one of its organizations, 4 Paws for Ability. 4 Paws for Ability is an organization that is based in Xenia, Ohio. They train service dogs and place them with children and veterans with disabilities. The organization created the 4 Paws for Ability University Program to reach out to colleges in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky to assist them.

In this program, students foster 4 Paws puppies throughout the semester to enhance their socialization and basic obedience training. These service dog in training puppies get to attend class, activities, meetings, events, and outings both on and off campus with their student handlers.

Kristin first joined 4 Paws for Ability at her time at Ohio State University and then joined the organization when she transferred to Ohio University. Kristin is currently a handler for the service dog in training, Clary. She often takes Clary to class with her and to the interior architecture studio while she is working on her projects.

Kristin hopes to continue her involvement with 4 Paws for Ability after she graduates.
